The dress is just what I expected. Beautiful. Regal. Modest yet Modern. In keeping with Catherine’s simple style, but befitting the magnitude of the event.
Fairytale perfect, the dress featured a v-neck with a lace bodice and sleeves embroidered with rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock (The national flowers of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). The bodice, skirt and underskirt were made of French Chantilly and English lace. The skirt was made with white satin gazar arches and pleats reminiscent of an opening flower. The train was almost 9 feet long.
Here’s what Burton said to Elle UK about the dress:
“It has been the experience of a lifetime to work with 2011 wedding dresses Catherine Middleton to create her wedding dress, and I have enjoyed every moment of it. It was such an incredible honour to be asked, and I am so proud of what we and the Alexander McQueen team have created.
[I am] delighted that the dress represents the best of British craftsmanship. Alexander McQueen’s designs are all about bringing contrasts together to create startling and beautiful clothes and I hope that by marrying traditional fabrics and lacework, with a modern structure and design, we have created a beautiful dress for Catherine on her wedding day.”
Burton has also designed gowns for Michelle Obama, Cate Blanchett, Lady Gaga and Gwyneth Paltrow. <cheap wedding dress If you are looking for a gown like this, take a look at these princess wedding dresses, and the Legends by Romona Keveza gown that we (correctly!) has a very similar styling to Catherine’s dress.
