Being my third tablet after samsung galaxy 7,ipad 2 a now asus transformer tf 101, please if you already have an Ipad 2. Do yourself a favor and do not buy it. If you don't have an ipad 2 yet, save your money and get an used ipad 1 for about $250 or simply get an ipad 2.let's start with the cons... Laggy response, despite a powerful hardware the android interface is unresponsive and slow. Comparing to my ipad 2, typing with onscreen keyboard is a total nightmare. I have to slow down considerably my typing speed because my on screen keyboard can't keep up to my fast and accurate typing speed. Browsing is totally a challenge here.default browser crashes very often, specially after opening a 3rd window tab. Zooming with multituch gestures is dissapointing. It is simply too slow and laggy. Screen looks washed out if you compare it to ipad 2 screen. Acer iconia tab a500 has a better screen. Expensive and overpriced gadget. Android 3.21 to blame for. This shouldn't cost more than 50% of the cheapest ipad 2, because this is what you are going to get, about 50% of the functionality of the ipad 2. We need quad core arm cpus only to cover on android 3.XX flaws. I am going to keep it only waiting for official asus ice cream sandwich 4.XX Pros: Extensive line of accessories from asus. However after getting them all (the ones really neccessary as asus keyboard, asus usb reader and sd reader)you can easily pass the $500 mark. At that point is a no sense getting an android tablet, no matter if it has a 4 or 8 core cpu. Conclusion: this is an amazing gadget, not really a functional tablet, browsing is terrible, watching videos is dissapointing, screen quality is a low quality screen, again if you compare it to ipad 2 screen. If you don't have an an ipad 2, you will probably won't notice any of my observations here. Acer iconia a500 and toshiba thrive are much better values. updated 11/28/2011 After 12 hours playing and dealing with I almost gave up, I was going to return it and finally decided to root it, I had to change the filesystem to ext2 before and then Installed latest revolver ROM and finally overclocked it to 1.5 Ghz, I couldn't believe how fast and responsive it was. Highly recommended to install custom rom, even if you are not a power user, just follow the instructions and you will be ready to go, the stock honeycomb on transformer tf101 is disappointing. Now I'm using everyday, I'm ordering the asus dock station and my Ipad 2 64 Gb is taking dust now. Already started spending some bucks on the great android apps from the market. I highly recommended this tablet due its popularity and 3er party support, currently with the motorola xoom, are the most popular and supported tegra 2 android tablets. Money Well spent here.

Ainol Novo 10 Hero II Quad Core Bluetooth GPS 16GB
Ainol Novo 10 Hero II Quad Core 10.1 inch Bluetooth GPS HDMI Dual Camera 16GB yeah I heard about Ainol releasing some quad core devices, but they will be using Vivante GC series GPU’s which is a pretty poor GPU (mali and power SGX scores way better benchmarks). Thier CPU will be from a new player (action I think). So no one knows about how the performance of these CPU will be. So I wouldn’t be too excited of their quad core series.
By the way Andi can you do more on tablets there is soo bloody many tablets in China it’s so hard to decide and has very little info can be found. I have been trying to find a tablet to use for work and it is so hard to decide. Chinese tablet manufacturer has come up with the rather nobly named Ainol Novo 10 Hero II, where this 10” Android tablet will feature an IPS display at 1,280 x 800 pixels, running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice. That is not all though, as the main selling point of the Ainol Novo 10 Hero II would most probably be its quad-core processor underneath the hood, retailing for just $240 a pop.
Ainol has launched their latest Android tablet, Ainol Novo 10 Hero. This tablet contains latest version of very popular Android operating system. This operating system has become very popular than any other operating system. One interesting thing about this operating system is that it supports all the latest Apps as well as games. There is Dual Core processor in this tablet for better performance. Ainol has provided larger sized display for viewing better quality of images and videos. Dual Camera are present in this tablet with which we can have better photography as well as video chatting.
Ainol Novo 10 Hero Tablet Features and Specifications:
Hardware
Dimensions: 262 x178 x 9.5 mm
Weight: 672 Gms.
Display
Screen Size: 10 inches
Type: IPS Display
Screen Resolution: 1280 x 800 pixels
Screen Type: Touch
Touch Type: Capacitive Touch
The Ainol Novo 10 Hero II will be powered by a 1.5 GHz Actions Semiconductor ATM7029 quad-core processor alongside a ARM Mali 400 graphics chipset, making it ideal for those who want to jump aboard the Android bandwagon, and yet do not want to fork out a premium for it. I guess we will only know just how well the Ainol Novo 10 Hero II performs should we finally be able to get our hands on a unit, and run actual performance tests on it. Still, that kind of hardware processing power with one of the more recent Android operating system versions with such a screen size, and yet being more than $100 more affordable than an iPad mini, makes it quite the tempting purchase, does it not?
Ainol Novo 7 Crystal Review
Ainol Novo 7 Crystal Review.
Geeks and tablet users, one of the most affordable dual core tablet, Ainol Novo 7 Crystal is now here in the Philippines! We’re lucky to receive one unit from our friends at EGL Marketing, a direct importer of Ainol products. And we are very much excited on this tablet while we seldom see reviews about it. Well, let’s work it on!
Ainol Novo7 Crystal Philippines Review Box
Design
Though it’s a bit chunky and thickness is not commendable compare to other leading tablets, it’s elegantly nice looking in a leather case just like what’s on this picture.
Let me tell you first the price, it’s only Php6,999! Ainol Novo7 Crystal is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor with 1GB RAM. Wow! Plus an awesome turn-on factor of dual core Mali 400 GPU – Taragis! It is currently the Philippines’ most affordable dual core tablet that runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It is a 7-inch device with 1024×600 high-resolution IPS screen.
Ainol Novo7 Crystal Philippines Review Leather Case
It actually doesn’t matter when what you really want is a working tablet, a general purpose in-house tablet that you can use every time you go to bed and or during early morning sneak-in Facebook and Twitter updates. The thickness is really worth trading-off with its specs, features, and of course the price =)
Five ports are provided: for wall charger, HDMI converter, microUSB, microSD, and headphone. Also along this side is a microphone.
Ainol Novo 7 Crystal Ports
And on the upper right, you’ll find the power button, volume rocker and the home button.
Ainol Novo7 Crystal Volume Rocker
The OS (Android 4.1 Jelly Bean)
Crystal’s Android 4.1 OS is set to the Phablet UI instead of Tablet UI. This is not a strange thing in a 7”-tablet, the Nexus 7 uses the same User Interface layout. Jelly Bean comes with complete collection of Google Apps (Calendar, Chrome, Gmail, Search, Google+, Maps, Play Books, Play Magazines, Play Movies. Play Store, Talk, Youtube) and they all work and sync perfectly.
Why this notable speed and smoothness?
Well, Jelly Bean probably focuses on its improved response time and consistency across the system through its vsync and triple buffering. It has now more reactive and uniform touch responses making the device more responsive.
Ainol-Novo7-Crystal-Accessories
And if you are into Facebook and other social networking sites, I would recommend this device, it’s useful =). I also tried Skype video call, and it’s working, though camera is not that clear but still, having Skype video call is a plus. But it’s a bit off though that this device doesn’t support the current version of Yahoo Messenger and Instagram. Though I was not able to figure out, maybe other versions would work.

Ainol Novo 7 Crystal Benchmark
perfectly, fast enough to do the usual things such as internet browsing, and what’s notable about it is its ability of dipping in a hardcore gaming. It’s totally awesome. I tried drag racing and I felt that I was really on a real car racing game console. Speed is something really noticeable. I still couldn’t believe that it has this Mali 400 GPU. Video screen is also perfect, not too big, and not too small. And the quality of video is really fantastic. I tried playing HD videos on YouTube and it’s literally “crystal” clear. It’s like watching movie on a mini HDTV. Cool!
Ainol Novo 7 Crystal Philippines Review Apps
It’s my first time to encounter Jelly Bean and I find it to be the fastest among other versions of Android OS. While navigating from home screen and switching multiple apps, I find it smooth and fast, and I can say that it can beat other leading tablets when it comes to speed and touch screen responsiveness. It seemed to be effortless moving from one app to another.
Ainol Novo 7 Legend 8GB
Ainol Novo 7 Legend 8GB Today seems to be the day of the low-cost tablets aiming big. Just after we wrote about the Perfeo-9706 IPS, here comes another budget contender with similar jaw-dropping specs for its price.
Ainol Novo 7 Legend 8GB Ainol, unlike Perfeo, is a relatively better known Chinese manufacturer, known for producing low-cost but feature rich tablets for those looking for a budget device with basic functionality without having to punch a hole in one’s pockets. With its new 9.7″ quad-core offering which Ainol claims is comparable to those of the Apple New iPad, Ainol seems to be getting ready to reinvent its image
The Ainol Novo 7 Legend 8GB will sport a 1280 x 800 resolution IPS display on a 9.7″ screen, and pack a yet unspecified quad-core SoC, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory expandable via microSD, and run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The device will reportedly cost around $240, and should be released towards the end of October.
If all the specs and features mentioned above are true, then $240 is a pretty decent price for the Novo Legend. But then, the 32 GB Nexus 7 is likely to be out soon, and so is the iPad Mini. Will Ainol have what it takes to compete with them? Price-wise maybe yes, but whether it can lock horns quality and dependability wise remains to be seen.

The Cube U9GT5 tablet maker
Chinese tablet maker Cube tablet was one of the first companies to introduce a model with a Rockchip RK3066 dual core processor. Now Cube is one of the first companies to introduce an Android tablet with an iPad-like retina display.
The Cube U9GT5 has a 9.7 inch, 2048 x 1536 pixel display, which offers the same 264 pixels per inch as the third generation Apple iPad.
Cube tablet with retina display
While the screen resolution is similar, under the hood the iPad and the U9GT5 are very different.
Cube’s tablet has a 1.6 GHz RK3066 dual core CPU, ARM Mali 400 graphics, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB to 16GB of storage. It runs Google Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and features WiFi and Bluetooth.
A demo video from Phonandroid also shows that the tablet includes the Google Play Store.

Ainol Novo 10 Hero Tablet Pros
Ainol Novo 10 Hero Tablet has got good connectivity options. It has got 3G connectivity, unlike most of the low cost Android tablets. This tablet has been provided with capacitive type of touch screen and has got support for 3D G Sensors. That means, it can give much support for micro SD card and hence it can support memory expansion up to 32 GB. Multi touch is also enabled on this device and hence pinch to zoom is also possible on this device.
Ainol Novo 10 Hero Tablet http://www.ainol-tablet.com/ainol-novo10-hero-tablet-pc.html has been provided with Wi-Fi internet connectivity. It has got good processor and RAM. Dual cameras are also seen on this tablet. Wi-Fi internet connectivity options can be utilized on this device which has Bluetooth and GPS support also. Android support is provided, so that users can download their favorite apps.
Ainol Novo 10 Hero Tablet Cons
Few cons can also be noticed on Ainol Novo 10 Hero Tablet. This tablet is not having much brand value when compared to the other tablets in the market. Generally people purchase tablets and smart phones based on the brand as their first preference. So, the commercial success of this tablet can’t be assessed immediately. This tablet has been provided with dual cameras, but the quality of these cameras is not so good. They are just basic cameras and can be used without much expectation.
Screen size provided on Ainol Novo 10 Hero Tablet is of 10 inches and this may not be able to suit the tastes and preference of all those prospective customers in the market. It is because of the reason that many people are giving preference to smaller screen sized tablets.

hehe watch a youtube video of one of the devices, it seems like they are talking about something else :P
anoil uses the same chip in many other tablets, custom roms are available because its one of the few china chips manufacturer that release source code for their socs also anoil always released kernel sources.
Well many devices use the same soc as base and custom roms only need a few different drivers to get working on other versions of the tablet (Wlan, Screen driver).
If some dev could get it working we would get a few very capable and cheap tablets with open WebOS.
I will pick up a crystal or fire to get a cheap working android tablet, a webos dualboot would be aweswome in the future.

Ainol Crystal 7 inch tablet
This morning I noticed the sale on Ainol Crystal on MP4Nation, which is a very popular one amongst fellow Ozbargainers, so decided to post. It's a great option for people who are after a 7 inch tablet and the price also includes free Fedex delivery (which arrives in about 2 to 3 days by experience). The tablet comes with Android 4.1 (jellybean on it)
I can vouch for the store, MP4Nation. I've purchased many items from them in the past (earphones and tablets), delivery is fast, customer service is great.
If you apply the coupon code the price comes down to US$108.77 (which is about AU$104.89). But the deal doesn't stop there.
Now I usually ignore bundle purchase offers, but this time there is a really good one for an earphone. If interested, keep reading:
You will notice an option for an earphone bundle. Now one of those is I think a must have for that price: The Brainwavz M2. If you pick it, with the discount code, the total comes down to $131.91 (US$ 136.91). Which is only $27 for the earphones. The earphones sell for about $75 locally (@headphonic and @minidisc). I haven't tried M2s myself yet, but here is the first review I have come across:
Please note that the actual link is for the black model of the tablet. There is also the white one available for the same price, with the same earphones deal:
Don't forget to use the code 'fb2012fiver' and select free Fedex as the delivery option at the checkout.
