Ainol Novo 7 Crystal Review

Ainol Novo 7 Crystal Review.

Geeks and tablet users, one of the most affordable dual core tablet, Ainol Novo 7 Crystal is now here in the Philippines!  We’re lucky to receive one unit from our friends at EGL Marketing, a direct importer of Ainol products. And we are very much excited on this tablet while we seldom see reviews about it. Well, let’s work it on!

Design

Though it’s a bit chunky and thickness is not commendable compare to other leading tablets, it’s elegantly nice looking in a leather case just like what’s on this picture.

Let me tell you first the price, it’s only Php6,999! Ainol Novo7 Crystal is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor with 1GB RAM. Wow! Plus an awesome turn-on factor of dual core Mali 400 GPU – Taragis! It is currently the Philippines’ most affordable dual core tablet that runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It is a 7-inch device with 1024×600 high-resolution IPS screen.

It actually doesn’t matter when what you really want is a working tablet, a general purpose in-house tablet that you can use every time you go to bed and or during early morning sneak-in Facebook and Twitter updates. The thickness is really worth trading-off with its specs, features, and of course the price =)

Five ports are provided: for wall charger, HDMI converter, microUSB, microSD, and headphone. Also along this side is a microphone.

And on the upper right, you’ll find the power button, volume rocker and the home button.

The OS (Android 4.1 Jelly Bean)

Crystal’s Android 4.1 OS is set to the Phablet UI instead of Tablet UI. This is not a strange thing in a 7”-tablet, the Nexus 7 uses the same User Interface layout.  Jelly Bean comes with complete collection of Google Apps (Calendar, Chrome, Gmail, Search, Google+, Maps, Play Books, Play Magazines, Play Movies. Play Store, Talk, Youtube) and they all work and sync perfectly.

Why this notable speed and smoothness?

Well, Jelly Bean probably focuses on its improved response time and consistency across the system through its vsync and triple buffering. It has now more reactive and uniform touch responses making the device more responsive.

And if you are into Facebook and other social networking sites, I would recommend this device, it’s useful =).  I also tried Skype video call, and it’s working, though camera is not that clear but still, having Skype video call is a plus. But it’s a bit off though that this device doesn’t support the current version of Yahoo Messenger and Instagram. Though I was not able to figure out, maybe other versions would work.

perfectly, fast enough to do the usual things such as internet browsing, and what’s notable about it is its ability of dipping in a hardcore gaming. It’s totally awesome.  I tried drag racing and I felt that I was really on a real car racing game console. Speed is something really noticeable. I still couldn’t believe that it has this Mali 400 GPU. Video screen is also perfect, not too big, and not too small.  And the quality of video is really fantastic. I tried playing HD videos on YouTube and it’s literally “crystal” clear. It’s like watching movie on a mini HDTV. Cool!

Ainol Novo 7 Crystal Philippines Review Apps

It’s my first time to encounter Jelly Bean and I find it to be the fastest among other versions of Android OS. While navigating from home screen and switching multiple apps, I find it smooth and fast, and I can say that it can beat other leading tablets when it comes to speed and touch screen responsiveness. It seemed to be effortless moving from one app to another.
